Botanical Buck Day – Dollar Day at the South Texas Botanical Gardens

Botanical Buck Day at South Texas Botanical Gardens

A trip to the South Texas Botanical Gardens is a wonderful way to spend a Saturday. While you may not immediately equate late fall with a trip to the gardens, it’s actually the peak season for many floral exhibits. This is your last chance to see Plumeria and other colorful plants before they are put into storage for the winter.

Along with being a family-friendly and cost-efficient activity, studies have shown that spending time outdoors in nature is linked to lower stress levels and greater life satisfaction. This is a great opportunity to bring kids along and instill in them an appreciation for the outdoors and botanicals.

Botanical Buck Day

You’ll save quite a bit by visiting the South Texas Botanical Gardens on Botanical Buck Day. Admission is normally $8 for adults and $4 for kids. However, on Saturday, Nov. 4 admission is just $1 for everyone 3 and up. Gardens members and children under 3 will be admitted free of charge. The gardens are open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m

There are more than flowers to see on Botanical Buck Day.

Along with having the gardens open for exploring, South Texas Botanical Gardens will host several special events. There will be parrot talk shows at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Additionally, butterfly releases will take place at noon and 3 p.m., open to the first 100 people in line.

Make sure to stop by Nature’s Boutique for the small plant sale. You can find plants suitable for both indoors and outdoors. Winter may be coming, but that doesn’t mean your green thumb has to hibernate too.

South Texas Botanical Gardens

All of the South Texas Botanical Gardens’ usual attractions will be available to guests on Botanical Buck Day. One of the newest and most exquisite of these is the Orchid Conservatory. These orchids are in bloom right now, so make sure to stop by and see them in all of their glory. Along with the Orchid Conservatory, there is the Tropical Garden, Resident Reptiles, trails, wetlands, and an abundant collection of floral exhibits. If this is your first time encountering some of the Gardens’ lovely attractions, there’s a good chance you’ll be back to see them again.
